Strengthening Roosevelt Road

The Roosevelt Road corridor is a major asset for the City of Berwyn, the Village of Oak Park, and the Town of Cicero. Spanning between Harlem Avenue to the west and Austin Boulevard to the east, the corridor is made up of vibrant businesses and essential amenities that serve the three communities. The purpose of this planning effort is to strengthen the Roosevelt Road business district by developing a vision for a more cohesive, accessible, and thriving area. This vision will be informed by feedback from Roosevelt Road businesses, neighbors, and other key stakeholders. Help us by spreading the word to friends and neighbors. Get Involved!

Community participation is critical to this planning process. After all, Roosevelt Road is the nexus of three communities, serving as a connector and a hub. We want to make sure that Roosevelt Road continues to serve as an important asset for Berwyn, Cicero, and Oak Park, while developing as a unique destination.

We need your input to learn about your vision for the corridor. How can we better support businesses? What would encourage you to come to the area more often? Which areas are in need of pedestrian improvements? We will be asking these question and more at upcoming workshops, open houses, and in online surveys. Sign up for updates and take a peek at what’s next by exploring the dropdown below.

  • This is our first opportunity to capture your vision! This event will provide a casual format to discuss topics related to Roosevelt Road such as market/programming opportunities, physical conditions, placemaking, branding & wayfinding, and urban design.

  • Echoing the first community workshop, we will develop an online survey to solicit feedback from the community. If you didn’t make it to the first workshop, or if you’d like to provide more information, this is your chance!

  • At this workshop we will present and discuss design alternatives and planning solutions for the Roosevelt Road corridor. This format will be an interactive “stations-style” setting and provide breakout round tables for more focused design charettes and discussions of specific ideas and topics.

  • We will create a digital version of Workshop #2 to ensure that all community stakeholders have a chance to voice their opinions on design concepts and solutions for the planning area.
